And $1000+ will by a lot of boxes of ammo (or at least it did in the good ole days before the ammo shortage). Mostly for sporting clays. I think much of that might have to do with the advent of the 725-series; Browning is making these guns much more lively than past models, and the feel to me is somewhat similar. Of course, an adjustable comb would fix that. For example, a buddy of mine who is a devout Browning fan wanted to see how the "other side" lives, so he bought a 686 Onyx earlier this year. With a 725, you get the "one with the gun" feeling you want, with the long lasting durability you expect from a Browning over and under. And puts Turkish made barrels in some Beretta semi-autos. As others have mentioned, these guns have very different fit and shooting dynamics: Beretta is lighter and faster to swing, Browning is heavier, often more nose heavy, and slower to swing. The Browning has the underlug lock up which is inferior to the Beretta lockup. For what its worth, I started off with a Beretta SP and a Browning XS Sporting, and pretty much settled I'm on the Browning as a slightly better platform for me.
